AdVance™ Male Sling System

The Procedure.

Click to print textPlacing the AdVance™ sling is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, which generally lasts approximately 20-30 minutes. The procedure may be performed under local or general anesthesia.

AdVance represents a paradigm shift in
treatment for incontinence.

                Dr Dean Knoll—
                Medical Director for urological Treatment
                and Research-Nashville, TN

Before the procedure, your doctor should give you a thorough explanation of what will happen during the surgery and how to prepare for it. Your doctor should also explain the procedure in more detail and describe the associated risks. Be sure to discuss any concerns with your doctor right away. In general, placing the AdVance sling involves the following. (Your doctor's method may vary slightly from this one.) Please refer to the Instructions for Use.

  • Outpatient surgery
  • May be performed under spinal or general anesthesia
  • Three small incisions
  • Recovery is often rapid
  • Often no catheter necessary upon discharge
  • No device activation required
  • Immediate improvement
  • Restored dignity and quality of life

What to Expect After the Procedure
Your doctor may insert a catheter through your urethra to drain your bladder immediately after the surgery. This catheter is usually removed the same day or shortly after.

Recovery from the surgery is usually quick, and most men report immediate improvement after the catheter is removed.

Your doctor may prescribe oral antibiotics for a period of time following the procedure.

Many doctors recommend that normal activities can be resumed after a few days, although patients should avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise and intercourse for a minimum of six weeks. Ask your doctor for personal instructions.

I put up with incontinence for over 3 years
and it was really tough. My doctor suggested
treatment which by then I was all for! Now I’m
back to the things I love to do.... without caring
where I am or how late I’m out.
